Why should you care about product labeling?

Products are required to be labeled as per applicable acts and regulations. For instance, cannabis products should be labeled as per Part 7 (Packaging and Labeling) of Cannabis Regulations which includes Health Canada Warning Messages, Net Weight, Lot Number, Potency Information, and others. For more information, refer to Packaging and Labeling Guide for Cannabis Products below:

 – Product Labeling should be taken seriously as it is one of the most common causes of recall. There have been multiple cannabis recalls across various license holders because of simple mislabeling associated with potency values, net weight, activation values, wrong product class, and others.

 – All labels should be reviewed and approved by at least 2 team members and the final approval should be completed by a senior member of the QA and Regulatory team. For instance, a QAP (Quality Assurance Personnel) should approve the final label before releasing the batches in the cannabis industry. Care should be taken to apply the correct labels on the correct product hence label traceability is the key.
