Why should you care about product labeling?

Products are required to be labeled according to applicable acts and regulations. For instance, cannabis products must be labeled as per Part 7 (Packaging and Labeling) of the Cannabis Regulations, which includes requirements such as Health Canada Warning Messages, Net Weight, Lot Number, Potency Information, and more. For detailed information, refer to the official guide below:

  • • Product labeling must be taken seriously, as it remains one of the most common causes of product recalls. Several cannabis recalls have occurred due to simple mislabeling errors — including incorrect potency values, net weight, activation values, product classification, and more.
  • • All labels should be reviewed and approved by at least two team members, with final approval completed by a senior QA or Regulatory team member. For example, a Quality Assurance Person (QAP) should sign off on the final label before product release. Additionally, ensure proper label traceability to prevent mix-ups or incorrect product applications.
