Psychedelics Compliance
Psychedelics Compliance and Quality Solutions
- Commonly known as magic mushrooms, Psychedelics are controlled substances that contain Psilocybin and Psilocin as active ingredients (hallucinogens).
- In Canada, Psychedelics are regulated under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) as Schedule III substances. For legally possessing and conducting activities with controlled substances, organizations are required to obtain a dealer’s license or get a Section 56 exemption.
- A Dealer’s License allows an organization to conduct activities such as cultivation, processing, packaging, research, extraction, destruction, storage, and analytical testing.
- A Dealer’s License application is managed by the Office of Controlled Substances (OCS) under Health Canada and takes 270 calendar days. To obtain a dealer’s license, the requirements are extensive and include physical security documents, QPIC qualification documents, criminal record checks, and others. A detailed review of the application package and site inspection verifying the physical security measures is conducted by the office before granting the license.
- It is important to file a strong application with all supporting documents to avoid delays in the application or having to repeat the licensing application which could significantly delay the business prospects.
