Health Canada Places Meticulous Regulations on Immediate Container Requirements, Ensuring Both Product Integrity and Consumer Safety

The immediate container, in direct contact with cannabis or its accessory, must adhere to various specifications outlined by Health Canada. These include preventing contamination, maintaining opacity or translucency, incorporating child-resistant features, and having security measures like a sealed package.

Containers are subject to restrictions on cannabis quantity and Total THC levels. For instance, a container cannot exceed the equivalent of 30 g of dried cannabis and must not contain more than 1,000 mg of Total THC for cannabis extracts or topicals. The regulations encompass diverse forms of cannabis products, from dried cannabis to topicals, extracts and edibles and also varied based on intended us such as inhalation or ingestion.

Not long ago, Health Canada passed a judgement on stop selling of some edibles which were packaged and sold as ingestible extracts costing producers millions of dollars. It is important to understand the intent with which regulations are written along with their correct interpretation.
